ٱلْحِجْر

99 Ayahs

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ (57)

He ˹then˺ added, “What is your mission, O messenger-angels?”

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ (58)

They replied, “We have actually been sent to a wicked people.

إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ (59)

As for the family of Lot, we will certainly deliver them all,

إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرْنَآ ۙ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ (60)

except his wife. We have determined that she will be one of the doomed.”

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ (61)

So when the messenger-angels came to the family of Lot,

قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ (62)

he said, “You must be strangers!”

قَالُوا۟ بَلْ جِئْنَـٰكَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ (63)

They responded, “We have come to you with that ˹torment˺ which they have doubted.
