ٱلشُّعَرَاء

227 Ayahs

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

قَالَ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ (155)

Ṣâliḥ said, “Here is a camel. She will have her turn to drink as you have yours, each on an appointed day.

وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ (156)

And do not ever touch her with harm, or you will be overtaken by the torment of a tremendous day.”

فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ نَـٰدِمِينَ (157)

But they killed her, becoming regretful.

فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ (158)

So the punishment overtook them. Surely in this is a sign. Yet most of them would not believe.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ (159)

And your Lord is certainly the Almighty, Most Merciful.

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ (160)

The people of Lot rejected the messengers

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ (161)

when their brother Lot said to them, “Will you not fear ˹Allah˺?
