بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ


إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ (85)

and said to his father and his people, “What are you worshipping?



أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةً دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ (86)

Is it false gods that you desire instead of Allah?



فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ (87)

What then do you expect from the Lord of all worlds?”



فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ (88)

He later looked up to the stars ˹in contemplation˺,1



فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌ (89)

then said, “I am really sick.”1



فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ (90)

So they turned their backs on him and went away.



فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ (91)

Then he ˹stealthily˺ advanced towards their gods, and said ˹mockingly˺, “Will you not eat ˹your offerings˺?
