60 Ayahs

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

فَأَقْبَلَتِ ٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ فِى صَرَّةٍ فَصَكَّتْ وَجْهَهَا وَقَالَتْ عَجُوزٌ عَقِيمٌ (29)

Then his wife came forward with a cry, clasping her forehead ˹in astonishment˺, exclaiming, “˹A baby from˺ a barren, old woman!”


قَالُوا۟ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ (30)

They replied, “Such has your Lord decreed. He is truly the All-Wise, All-Knowing.”


۞ قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ (31)

˹Later,˺ Abraham asked, “What is your mission, O  messenger-angels?”


قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ (32)

They replied, “We have actually been sent to a wicked people,


لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن طِينٍ (33)

to send upon them stones of ˹baked˺ clay,


مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ (34)

marked by your Lord for the transgressors.”


فَأَخْرَجْنَا مَن كَانَ فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ (35)

Then ˹before the torment˺ We evacuated the believers from the city.
