62 Ayahs

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا ٱلْأُولَىٰ (50)

And He destroyed the first ˹people of˺ ’Ȃd,


وَثَمُودَا۟ فَمَآ أَبْقَىٰ (51)

and ˹then˺ Thamûd,1 sparing no one.


وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ (52)

And before ˹that He destroyed˺ the people of Noah, who were truly far worse in wrongdoing and transgression.


وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ (53)

And ˹it was˺ He ˹Who˺ turned the cities ˹of Sodom and Gomorrah˺ upside down.


فَغَشَّىٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ (54)

How overwhelming was what covered ˹them˺!1


فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ (55)

Now, which of your Lord’s favours will you dispute?


هَـٰذَا نَذِيرٌ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلْأُولَىٰٓ (56)

This ˹Prophet˺ is a warner like earlier ones.
